Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 May 2026
Scope: This Privacy Policy applies worldwide to your use of the Find Nearby app on Android and iPhone, and to the Find Nearby website where relevant.
1. Who We Are
Find Nearby is operated by Find Nearby Ltd (“Find Nearby”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
Company name: Find Nearby Ltd
Address: Clyde Offices (2nd Floor), 48 West George Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 1BP
Email: info@findnearby.co.uk
If you have any privacy questions or requests, please contact us at info@findnearby.co.uk.
2. Our Privacy Approach
We designed Find Nearby to use as little personal data as possible.
In summary:
- you do not need to create an account with your name or email to use the app
- we do not store your precise location history on our own servers
- you can search by place name without granting location permission
- we use advertising, analytics, diagnostic, referral, credits, and subscription tools to operate and improve the app
- if you purchase Find Nearby Pro, payment is handled by the relevant app store provider rather than directly by us
3. What Information We Use
a) Location data
If you allow location access, the app uses your device location to:
- show relevant places near you
- calculate distances
- support routing, directions, and related map features
We do not store your precise location history on our own servers.
You can turn location permission off at any time in your device settings. If you do, you can still search by place name instead.
b) Search, map, and routing data
If you type a place name, address, or search query into the app, that information may be sent to our map and location providers so they can return search results, autocomplete suggestions, maps, routes, or Street View imagery where available.
c) Advertising data
We currently use Google AdMob to show ads. We may also use Unity Ads as a fallback or alternative advertising provider.
On Android:
- if you consent, ads may be personalised
- if you do not consent, we request non-personalised ads
On iPhone:
- we currently request non-personalised ads
- we do not currently request App Tracking Transparency permission for advertising in the app
Even when ads are non-personalised, advertising partners may still process limited technical data such as device or app identifiers, IP-derived region, and ad interaction data for ad delivery, frequency capping, measurement, and fraud prevention.
Where required, we use Google’s consent/privacy messaging tools to show privacy and advertising choices.
You can review or change relevant ad/privacy choices inside the app in Settings, where available.
d) Analytics and measurement
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve performance, stability, and feature decisions.
This may include:
- app events such as first open, screen views, and feature usage
- device and app information such as app version, device model, and operating system
- approximate region or country
- app instance or installation identifiers
You can switch analytics off inside the app in Settings.
e) Crash reports and diagnostics
We use Firebase Crashlytics to help us understand and fix app crashes, errors, and stability issues.
Crash and diagnostic information may include:
- device model
- operating system and version
- app version
- crash logs
- basic technical diagnostics
- installation or app instance identifiers used by Firebase services
Crash reports help us make the app more reliable and identify issues affecting real users.
f) Anonymous app identifier, credits, and referrals
To support app features such as credits, referrals, and anti-abuse checks, the app may create an anonymous identifier using Firebase services.
This does not require your name or email address.
If you use referral features, we may process limited data such as:
- anonymous app or user IDs
- referral codes
- reward or credit events
- timestamps
- basic anti-fraud signals
- install attribution data where supported
If you never use the referral feature, we do not use referral codes for you.
g) Pro subscriptions and purchases
If you purchase Find Nearby Pro:
- the purchase is processed by the relevant app store provider, such as Google Play or Apple
- we do not receive your full payment card number or bank details
- we may receive subscription status, entitlement, renewal, cancellation, restore, and transaction-related information needed to unlock or restore Pro features
We use Qonversion to help manage subscriptions, entitlements, purchase status, and restore flows.
h) Website contact data
If you email us or contact us through a link on the website, we will use your email address and message content to respond to your enquiry and keep appropriate support records.
i) Technical and diagnostic data
Like most apps and websites, we and our service providers may process limited technical data needed to operate and secure the app and website, such as:
- device model
- operating system and version
- app version
- browser type where relevant
- language or locale
- country or region
- basic diagnostics
- identifiers used by our SDKs and services
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide nearby search and map features
- provide routing, directions, Street View, and navigation-related functionality
- deliver ads and measure ad performance
- run the credits and referral systems
- enable Pro subscriptions and restore purchases
- improve app stability, performance, and usability
- prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse
- respond to support or privacy enquiries
- comply with legal obligations
5. Legal Bases for Processing (UK / EEA Users)
Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we generally rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the features you ask us to provide, such as nearby search, maps, routing, and Pro access
- Consent: where required, for personalised advertising and certain privacy choices
- Legitimate interests: to keep the app secure, prevent abuse, understand app performance, run non-personalised ads, operate referrals and credits, respond to enquiries, and improve the service
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose certain information by law
You can withdraw consent at any time for processing that depends on consent.
6. Third-Party Services
Depending on the feature you use, the app may use third-party providers such as:
- Google AdMob, for ads and ad measurement
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) or related Google privacy messaging tools, for consent and privacy choices where required
- Google Analytics for Firebase, for analytics and measurement
- Firebase Authentication, for anonymous app or user identification where needed

- Google Play billing and Apple in-app purchase systems, for subscription payments
- Google Maps, Google Street View, and related mapping services
- LocationIQ and other search or location providers, for place search and autocomplete

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies, or as service providers acting on our behalf, depending on the service.

- app search and location requests: retained by relevant providers according to their own policies
- analytics data: retained according to our analytics settings and provider retention rules
- crash and diagnostic data: retained according to Firebase Crashlytics settings and provider retention rules

Where applicable to our own systems, referral and anti-abuse records may be retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or irreversibly aggregated.
When we no longer need data, we delete it or keep only aggregated or de-identified information where appropriate.

We do not sell personal information for money.
However, where applicable under U.S. law, personalised advertising may be treated as sharing for targeted advertising purposes. You can change your privacy choices inside the app where available.
